Sometimes we just don't feel like touring our own city where we live in, thinking that there's not much to see anyway. That's how I always feel. Though I live in Ipoh, I don't go sightseeing around the city and whenever people ask me for tourist attractions, I became blank. Then I realized that there's so much more to see so last weekend, I went touring Ipoh and I want to share with you the beauty of Ipoh town.
Playing tourist would be so much fun when you have your camera but unfortunately, I forgot to bring mine so all the photos in this post were taken only by phone. Hope you guys aren't disturbed by the low-quality photos here, soz not soz.
On Saturday, I went touring Ipoh with my friend, Jiha. At 10.00am, we went for brunch at a stall in front of Ipoh Cargo. I just forgot to take a picture of the stall and I couldn't remember its name, I think there wasn't a name at all but you can just Waze for Ipoh Cargo and the stall is exactly in front of it. We ordered Wantan Mee Kicap with Soup and Chee Cheong Fun. I must assure you that the taste was over the top, or maybe because it was my first time trying them teehee.
I've always wanted to go to nature surrounding places so we went to Taman Rekreasi Gunung Lang after our brunch. I heard that the other side of the lake was way more beautiful and the boat to cross the lake was as cheap as RM3 per person but we decided to just take a few photos from the front because there were too many people queuing for the boat. I will take the boat someday as I'm curious about the view from the other side.
We spent about 30minutes at Gunung Lang and then we went to Concubine Lane located off Jalan Bandar Timah in Old Town. As far as I've read, rich Chinese men used to keep their concubines and mistresses in the townhouses along the lane, thus its name. Today's Concubine Lane is one of the tourist attraction of Ipoh town. Along the lane were Chinese Restaurants, street food, and many more. What attracted me the most was how vintage some of the townhouses were.
After we exited Concubine Lane, we went to Plan B area, which was right next to it.
Around 1.00pm, we went to Art Lane, located at Jalan Masjid. I heard that there'll be street performance or busking and stalls at the lane every weekend. However, there was nothing when we went there. We just got off to take few photos of the Art Lane and continue our tour to try Hokkaido Ice Cream Puff Ipoh. As an ice cream lover, the ice cream definitely was to die for.
Around 2.30pm, we went to Petit Mary Patisserie to cure our thirst after having an ice cream. The cafe was so cute I wish I could decorate my house like the cafe in the future.
On Sunday, I decided to go to Pasar Karat. Since Jiha couldn't make it, I went with Nad. Pasar Karat full of stalls selling vintage goods. It would be a heaven for vintage lovers for their collections. However, there were also stalls selling clothes, street food, bags and regular merchandise where you can find at Pasar Malam. Pasar Karat was so huge we didn't get to tour it till the end as we went there on an empty stomach.
Since we were starving after touring Pasar Karat, we went to the current viral restaurant, New Holly Wood at Taman Canning. There were too many people, we had a hard time finding an empty table. Fortunately, we got lucky to find one. We got ourselves Mee Kari, Chee Cheong Fun and toast with half boiled eggs. I ordered Cheong Chee Fun because it was delicious the first time I tried it at the stall in front of Ipoh Cargo. I was quite disappointed as the one sold at this restaurant had different Chee Cheong Fun but fortunately, it was delicious nonetheless.
After the tour around Ipoh town ended that day I knew there are more places I didn't get to cover such as Tasik Cermin, Gua Tempurung, The Lost World of Tambun and many more. Hopefully, I got the chance again for these missing places.
If you guys were planning to visit Ipoh town, I hope this post will be a great help to you.
Till then,
Lya.

After having our tea time, we went to Aeon Kinta to kill time before heading to Bulatan Amanjaya, Meru as there was Perak Festival of Ideas event. We wanted to have our dinner at the food truck but it was still early and they were not open yet so we went home around 7.00pm and had our dinner in a restaurant at Tambun.
