Hi.
I actually started the new year with a trip to Hatyai and Songkhla from the 6th to the 8th of January. This marked my second time to Hatyai, but the places I visited were still much had the same excitement. It was exceptionally exciting because I went with three of my friends who had yet to visit Hatyai. Here is the itinerary of the trip.
Day 1
We took the ETS from Ipoh at 1.09am and reached Padang Besar around 4.21am. The border to Hatyai only opened around 6.00am hence, we were quite exhausted waiting. There were kiosks to book for transport or trips to Hatyai at Padang Besar KTM. We purchased a van for our accommodation at Siam Mansion with Pens Leisure Company. It costs us RM30 per person.
We arrived at Siam Mansion around 7.30am. It wasn't hard to search for good accommodation in Hatyai as there were plenty of 5-star vibe hotels with cheaper prices. Siam Mansion costs RM328 for four people per night. One thing that we disliked about the hotel was they didn't provide us with iron. We rested at the hotel for around 2 hours before starting our day's trip.
We went to our first stop at Cheevit Cheeve Cafe by walking for 20 minutes. It was an ordinary cafe with the same range of prices, but the menus weren't the same as cafes in Malaysia. We tried their famous Bingsu and drinks. Then we took Grab to Kim Yong Market for souvenirs, mostly peanut snacks. The market was quite busy and narrow which made it hard to move around. After some shopping, we bought the viral Nasi Khaomok at Kaitod Meena for our lunch. Then we took Grab to visit the famous sleeping Buddha at Wat Hat Yai Nai. The entrance to the temple was free. After having lunch, we checked in and took a nap. Then we went to the Central Festival shopping mall and Asean Night Market during the night time to have dinner and did some shopping.
Day 2
We pre-booked Tuktuk to bring us touring the city for one whole day that day. We had the list but there were things the driver didn't follow and we had a little argument. I remember the argument also was hard as he was not fluent in English. But we enjoyed the trip nonetheless. The one-day Tuktuk costs us around 1200bath. We first went to Choco One Beach Hotel & Restaurant for breakfast. Its location was near the sea with so many Instagrammable photo areas. Then we visited Samila Beach and somehow decided to ride the horse as it was very cheap compared to Malaysia. It costs us only 150bath. Then we went to the famous Khlong Hae Market for lunch.
After a heartful lunch, we went for prayer at The Central Mosque of Songkhla. The mosque is also known as Taj Mahal Songkhla due to the design of the mosque with a man-made lake surrounding it. Then we visited the SeaVerse Cafe & Restaurant for sightseeing and photo spots. The day trip ended at Lee Garden Night Market for us to buy dinner. I remember that it was an exhausting day.
Day 3
We initially wanted to try Dimsum Chabura in Hatyai but the restaurant was closed that day. Then for the second option, we went hunting for Tomyam at Kaitod Deca. We chose to ride the train at Hatyai Junction going back to Padang Besar. We reached Padang Besar station around 4.00pm and our ETS back to Ipoh was at 4.30pm. Not to worry because Imigresen made a priority lane for people departing at 4.30pm ETS.
Hatyai is a fun and most importantly, a cheap holiday destination. No wonder there were so many Malaysian tourists. It definitely was a memorable trip and I no doubt will repeat it again.
Have you visited Hatyai-Songkhla yet?
Till then,
Lya.

ReplyDeleteMost of the places yang kita visit tu memang tourist spots. Boleh pergi nanti ;)
DeleteWent to Hatyai last year with siblings + mom. Surprisingly we visited most of the places mentioned too, I guess Hatyai is really well known for these places hehe. And we also had little arguments with the tuktuk driver as he didn't really understand English so we had to communicate just by showing pictures and stuffs like that. It was fun though, I hope to visit there again sometimes!
ReplyDeleteI remember that the language barrier was quite frustrating for us. Nonetheless it was an enjoyable trip!
